Picks
How is Pick of the Day chosen?
Every day we compare each game's Kalshi price with the sharpest sportsbook line we can get (Pinnacle when it's posted, otherwise DraftKings) after removing the book's built-in cut, then subtract Kalshi's fee. Only prices between 25¢ and 75¢ can be the pick. The biggest gap in your favor is the pick, the most overpriced side is the trap, and the most likely winner that isn't overpriced is the safest favorite.
What is the Spot Score?
One number from 1 to 99 on every gap that rolls up what we know about it: the size of the gap after fees (the biggest part), whether the fair price came from Pinnacle, steam (Pinnacle moved and Kalshi lagged), injury news, top traders on the same side, the crowd pushing the other team, a tired opponent, how much Kalshi has for sale at a good price, how wide Kalshi's spread is, whether buyers or sellers are stacked on Kalshi's order book, how many sportsbooks agree, reverse line moves, the opponent's schedule (3rd game in 4 nights, long road trips, altitude), starting goalie or pitcher changes, how close the game is, and how often gaps like it (same sport, gap size and signals) have beaten Kalshi's closing price. 70+ is Strong, 50 to 69 Good, under 50 Lean. It ranks bets; it isn't a win chance. Results grades each score band so you can see whether higher scores really do better.
Why do you use Pinnacle's odds?
Pinnacle is the sportsbook professional bettors use. It takes big bets, keeps a small cut and moves its line quickly when sharp money arrives, so its odds are widely seen as the closest thing to a game's true chance. Most sportsbooks copy its line. We use it as the fair price whenever it's posted and fall back to DraftKings when it isn't; each game on the board says which one it used. Spot Angle isn't affiliated with Pinnacle.
When do picks publish?
Once most of the day's games have both sportsbook odds and a Kalshi market, or 90 minutes before the first game, whichever comes first. Picks lock when they publish and never change after.
How are picks graded?
Automatically from final scores, at $100 per pick at the published Kalshi price with fees included. Every graded pick stays on the public record, losses included.
Are picks guaranteed to win?
No. Picks are historical and market analysis for research and entertainment, not betting or financial advice. Gaps are usually small and prices move. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
Do you cover Polymarket?
Yes. We compare Polymarket US prices (and Novig and ProphetX on Pro) with Kalshi's for the same games, after each exchange's fee. Pro alerts and the live board point you to whichever exchange is cheaper. Pick of the Day is graded at Kalshi prices so the record stays consistent. Anyone can see today's side-by-side prices on the Kalshi vs Polymarket page.
Should I buy Kalshi combos?
Usually not. A combo is a parlay: every leg must hit, the win chances multiply, each leg's markup multiplies too, and Kalshi's fee takes a bigger share of cheap contracts. Paste any combo into the Combo checker to see its real chance and hidden markup.
Data & trends
Where does the data come from?
NFL results and closing lines come from nflverse, back to 1999. Fair prices come from Pinnacle's line through The Odds API when posted, otherwise DraftKings via ESPN. UFC and tennis odds come from The Odds API, and their results from how Kalshi settled each market. Prediction-market prices come from Kalshi's public API.
How often is it updated?
Scores and lines refresh every morning. Kalshi prices on This Week and the picks board are live.
What do ATS, cover rate and O/U mean?
ATS (against the spread): did the team beat the point spread. Cover rate: how often it did. O/U (over/under): did the combined score go over the posted total. Tap any dotted-underlined word on the site for a plain-English definition, or read Learn the basics.
Why don't NHL and MLB show a spread record?
Puck lines and run lines are priced at very different odds from game to game, so a simple cover rate would be misleading. Those sports show win rate and over/under instead.
I think a game or line is wrong.
Email support@getspotangle.com with the teams and date and we'll check it against the source.
